The Book of Speculation
The Book of Speculation, the debut novel by Erika Swyler, is dark and atmospheric. Magic, mystery, and family history make up the story. The main character is a librarian, and the story centers on an antique book. I feel like I should have loved it. I didn't, but find it difficult to explain why. It's not bad, but I am left with the idea that something is missing from this story.
